Black and white shibori hair barrette

This is actually my fist bead embroidery with shibori silk, but I haven´t posted these pictures yet.
As it was my first project, I made a lot of pictures of the process. It was a custom order, so she could follow the process also when I posted these steps on my FB page

Customer wanted to have black and white hair barrette. So I started with 5 cm peace of white shibori silk ribbon, black glass cabachon and different glass beads. This hair barrette blank is specially for thick hair, that is why it looks like a bit different.

I cuted shibori ribbon into two peaces, fixed it to black felt and started with cabachon ...

... and continued adding different seed beads and some bigger black fire polished beads.

After finishing embroidering I glued it to a cartong so it is sturdy and holds it´s shape. Then I fixed it to barrette blank and stitched the edges.

Backside is covered with dark gray felt.

I was satisfied with this barrette and so was my customer :)

Set of pink earrings and hair barrette

Some time ago I bought some transparent glass cabachons and colored them myself. I used two different nail polishes - transparent with some glitter and pink with metallic shine.
I like the color of these cabs - they are not too bright, but they are pink enough:)
I started with hair barrette. I used big oval and two drop cabs and surrounded them with different seed beads. I love those big (size 6/0) pink Toho beads, they are transparent color lined and have a little greenish shine and they match so well with my cabs.

I used golden blank this time, as I used some small golden seed beads when stitching. Backside of this barrette is covered with felt.

After finishing hair barrette I made matching earrings. I used small, 12 mm, glass cabachons and the same seed beads as in hair barrette.

And here you can see the set. At the moment the earrings and barrette are not together anymore. I sold the earrings and new owner wanted me to make matching necklace. So soon I´ll show you one pink necklace, something similar like this or this.

Charcoal and pink shibori silk bracelet

Some tima ago I ordered two grogeous shibori silk ribbons made by  Deborah Weaver from ArtisticWeavers . At first I planned to make some hair barrettes and pendants with these ribbons. But when I got them and had ´so much´ pleated silk in my hands I couldn´t resist to do something a little bigger.

I had one pink colored agate cabachon and matching pink freshwater pearls (I think freshwater pearls go so well with shibori) which when so well with this lovely charcoal gray silk. So I started ...

I used also different seed beads in pink, black and silver and some darker pink fire polished glass beads. It was so good to stitch, because the pleats of silk tell you where to add some more beads. Finally this peace became qiute ´coated´. Maybe in next shibori peace there will be the silk more visible.

I didn´t used metal bracelet blank. So this bracelet is quite flexible around the wrist. But it is a little molded so it holds nicely. Finally I added flower-shape silver T-clasp for the closure.

Blue flower earrings

Some time ago I made blue flower bracelet with lovely Czech flower beads. I also made matching earrings.

They have post earstuds and are very lightwait. I have similar flower beads also in red, green and light blue. So there will be more flower jewelry soon. I just like these glass flowers so much, they are so lovely and feminine.

Grayish blue crocheted beaded rope lariat

It has been a while since I finished my last crocheted beaded rope lariat. In last weeks I have been crocheting a lot and this one is the first one that is finished.
These Czech seed beads in size 9/0 remind me rainy autumn evening. They are transparent color lined beads and shine nicely. And these little glass drops in the end of the fringes are exactly like raindrops. They have nice shiny srface. Depending on the light in some point they are like glowing.

This lariat is long (over 150 cm, 62inches) and can be worn in many diferent ways.

I like crochete ropes because they are flexible and so comfortable to wear.

I have one orange and one green-white-yellow ropes waiting for fringes at the moment. And I think there will be some more.

Blue flowers - bead embroidered bracelet

This is my first try to make a bracelet from bead embroidered elements. These blue Czech glass flowers are just gorgeous. And I happened to have nice golden seed beads, not very bright, a little old looking, that match perfectly with these flowers.

So I started stitching and joining these embroidered element with each other. I didn´t had as dark fire polished beads as I actually wanted to use to join the elements, but these are also OK. Maybe these lighter ones even add a little lightness to this bracelet.

Backside of embroidered elements is covered with dark blue ultra suede.

I am so satisfied with the result that I already ordered more of these flowers and I plan to make one bracelet for myself also. This one is booked already and I was asked for one more:)

I made also matching earrings, but I didn´t managed to make a good photo today, so I´ll show the earrings some other time.

Embroidered turquise pendant

Some time ago I ordered turquise cabachons. I found lovely triangular ones and a bit bigger round ones that are 28 mm in diameter. These triangular ones are very beautiul.
In this bead embroidered pendant I used also seed beads and round glass beads.

Backside is finished with black ultra suede again.

Red and white bead embroidered necklace

As I wrote in my last post, I planned to make one more necklace. I planned to use lava stone beads, but this plan chaged. Those big flat beads, I wanted to use, wasn´t falt enough. And it seemed to me, that they are not very good for bead embroidery. But maybe I´ll figure out something one day:)

So I took three round white turquise cabachons and started to stitch. I new that I want to use white  and red. At first I planned to use also black seed beads. But then I found small Toho seed beads in copper, with lovely shiny finish. Copper matches well with the tone of crackles on the cabs.

I nested the cabc with bright red Czech seed beads and copper Toho seed beads. To surround the cab, I used also a little bigger white Matsuno seed beads.

I used turquise beads and seed beads to make the strand. Necklace has lovely copper T-clasp with flower ornament.

Backside of beaded tiles is covered with dark brown ultra suede.

And one more picture, to show the size of thisnecklace and it´s embroidered tiles.

Red and black necklace with embroidered details

After a long break I´ll show one necklace I finished last week and managed to take some photos today. This is made as custom order. She wanted something similar like this necklace, but in other colors. Actually I plan to make one more necklace with big flat lava stone beads, so she can choose:)

For this necklace I choosed shiny black cabachons from some kind of natural stone. They have very nice shiny surface. I used also Czech seed beads and round Czech glass beads. I wanted central detail to be a bit different. So I used also golden superduos to surround one cabachon. At first I thought I will finish two side details with only black seed beads. For central one I used at first both, red and black seed beads. But compared to the central detail they seemed to be too dark then.

So I took edge row of and used black and red seed beads as seen on this photo below. When I put all three peaces together I felt I have to add something to that central part. It seemed to be a bit too usual for focal detail. So I changed the edge row and added one more row of round glass beads. I used the same edging when I made Forget-me-not brooch.

This made the central part more spectacular and I liked it a lot more this way. I used black natural stone beads and red round glass beads for the strand.

Backside of embroidered details is finished with black ultra suede.
I like that final version of this necklace. This is more for special occasions that for everyday wear. And I think it will be a nice birthday gift, as it is planned to be.

I hope to show soon my next version of red and black neclace.

Masculine leather wrapped bracelet

Today I was also quite productive. When my son had his daysleep I made this leather wrapped bracelet.

This is custom order for a man. So I made this a bit more robust than my other wrapped bracelets are. I used 3mm leather cord and round 6 mm glass beads in different brown shades. It has metal button for closure.

Bead embroidered hairclip

After a long and sunny summer brake I made some beading today:) I have been asked, if I make hairclips also. So far I have answered that I haven´t tried yet. But today I had a look what I have in stash and made this bead embroidered hairclip with syntethical turquise cabachons.

I used also Czech seed beads in black matte finish and creamy luster finish. And some fire polished beads.

Backside is covered with dark gray felt.

I have one more hairclip idea with oval turquise cabachon and window cut Czech glass beads...
